John Hyndman’s photographs of South West Cape area of Tasmania are from digital capture, and reproduced on metallic RA4 paper via a Lambda printer.
An 11 day expedition through the area in January 2008 produced many landscapes depicting the placid waters of Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey, the rugged and wild coastline around South West Cape; and the many picturesque bights and bays of the little-frequented South West Wilderness.
Of particular interest whilst perambulating with camera and tripod along the pristine beaches, was the detritus deposited on the littoral zone by the tides. Also captivating were the inter-play of light, reflections and sand patterns in the tannin-stained waters of the many fresh-water creeks that spill out across the beaches to reach their ultimate destination . . . the mighty Southern Ocean.
