John Neeson
My recent works are simply an approach to still life painting involving the fall of light (natural and artificial) upon the simple single form of bowls and plates. These are generally white porcelain or glass, and become vessels that hold light. The single simple object becomes a contemplative form.
But in this case the bowl contains water, a liquid mirror reflecting a clear cloudless sky. Contemplation now involves a world in which water is a are and precious commodity.
