My current art practice is concerned primarily with the exploration of colour. The interaction of colour, its relativity, and its effect on perception and meaning. Colour cannot be remembered with accuracy, its power is in the experience. It is of the moment. Colour can excite and subdue our being without attachment to representational imagery, or it can, with the addition of the representational, heighten, subvert or manipulate our experiences and emotions.
‘Arapiles Blue’ is a landscape in which representational colour is replaced by the colour blue. In this work colour is foreground demanding equal attention with the image, imposing itself on the narrative and changing the story’s possibilities and endings. more...
